Clinic Policies &
Privacy Standards.
To deliver a rigorous level of care, we operate under strict clinical and operational protocols. Please review our policies prior to your visit.
Privacy & Confidentiality
As a medical aesthetics practice operating in Nova Scotia, we strictly adhere to the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).
Your medical history, treatment records, and clinical photography are housed within our secure, encrypted Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. We will never share, sell, or distribute your personal health information to third parties without your explicit, written consent.
Scheduling Protocol
48-Hour Notice Required
When you reserve a consultation or treatment, that time is dedicated entirely to you. We respectfully require a minimum of 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Failure to provide 48 hours' notice, or failing to attend a scheduled appointment (no-show), will result in a cancellation fee. This protocol ensures we can accommodate patients who are waiting for care.
Consultation & Candidacy
Dr. Al-Sharief prioritizes patient safety and anatomical integrity above all else. We reserve the right to politely refuse treatment if a procedure is deemed unsafe, medically contraindicated, or not aligned with your natural aesthetic harmony.
The "Right Fit" Promise: If we determine during your consultation that you are not a candidate for our aesthetic services, or that your concern is strictly a medical issue, your visit is 100% complimentary. We do not bill you or MSI for these aesthetic assessments.
Financial Policies
Sharief Aesthetics is a private-pay medical clinic. Payment is due in full at the time of service.
Accepted Methods
For your convenience, we gladly accept Cash, E-Transfer, and all major Credit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express).
*Please note: As a private aesthetic practice, our services are not covered by provincial health insurance (MSI) or general private health benefits.
Personal Health Information Act (PHIA)
▾
Sharief Aesthetics operates in full compliance with the Nova Scotia Personal Health Information Act (PHIA). Dr. Khalid Al-Sharief serves as the designated Privacy Officer and Custodian of all personal health information collected at this clinic.
Collection & Use
We collect only the personal health information necessary to provide safe, effective care. Your information is used exclusively for the purposes for which it was collected and is never disclosed to third parties without your explicit consent, except as required by law or for the direct provision of your care.
Retention & Security
All patient records are retained securely for a minimum of 10 years from the date of last service, in compliance with provincial requirements. Our electronic records systems are protected by appropriate technical and administrative safeguards.
Your Rights
You have the right to access your personal health information, request corrections, and make a complaint if you believe your information has been handled inappropriately.
To exercise any of these rights or to raise a privacy concern, contact our Privacy Officer directly at info@shariefaesthetics.com or 902.423.7919.
Clinical Photography
▾
Before-and-after photography is an essential clinical documentation tool. All photographs are stored securely within our EMR system and are governed by PHIA.
Separate Consent Required
Your treatment consent and your photography consent are two distinct documents. Consenting to treatment does not constitute consent to the use of your images for educational or marketing purposes. A separate, explicit written consent is required before any photograph may be used publicly — including on our website, social media, or clinical journal.
You may withdraw your photography consent at any time by contacting us in writing. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of any prior use made with your consent.
